EmeryLindsay was born on July 14, 1951 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended school in Kansas City, Kansas.

After serving in the US army for two years, Lindsay earned a B.S D. Degree from LeMoyne Own college in Tennessee, attended Nazarene Theological Seminary and Central Baptist Seminary, and was awardeda mater of Arts Degree in Religion in June of 1988 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Pastor Lindsay has held pastorates since 1974. He was installed at Christ Temple, Memphis, Tennessee until 1976, Christ Temple, Kansas City, Kansas, from 1976 through 1981 and Christ Temple Cathedral, Chicago, Illinois until the present time.

He as elected Bishop of the Northern Diocese of the Church of Christ (Hol.) U.S.S in 1990 and national President in 1996. He has served as Correspondence Secretry of the Black Council of Churches and is presently chairman of the Board of Directors at Roseland Community Hospital, a Trustee on the Board at Wheaton College and a member of the Board of Directors at Roselands Y.M.C.A.

Emery Lindsay is married to Peral Hendricks, of Los Angeles Clifornia. They are proud parents of Camile, Melanie, Rachel, Erica Brittany, and Vernon. They also have two grandchildren. Camile Lindsay was the undergraduate coordinate for UIC Criminal Justice Department in 1999 and 2000.

Joan W. Moore is the past president of the Society for the Study of Social Problems and the author of several award winning books, including Homeboys: Gangs, Drugs, and Prison in the Barrios of Los Angeles and Going Down to the Barrio: Homeboys and Homegirls in Change.

 

In East Los Angeles, Moore founded the Pinto Project which build collaboration between academics, former inmates and gang members, and others from the Mexican community. Her path-breaking project not only conducted high quality research, but also was an advocate for the barrios and those stigmatized by prison.

 

Moore is now Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she lives with her husband Burton.

 

Moore was John Hagedorn's teacher and mentor.
