| The Conservative Vice Lords, like the Blackstone Rangers and
other African American gangs, got together first in St. Charles reformatory.
A group of guys came back home to Lawndale, fought with other local
groups, and formed a club: The Conservative Vice Lords. The story
of the CVLs is told by David Dawley in his A Nation of Lords: The
Autobiography of the Vice Lords. (1992. Waveland Press. Prospect Heights,
IL) By 1970s, the CVLs had become one of Chicago's largest gangs,
or street organizations. |
