This is a website dedicated to providing quality research on gangs to students, academics, public officials, the media, and the general public. While most "gang" websites either present the views of law enforcement or give unverified or questionable information, gang research.net seeks to dispel stereotypes and present research, original documents, nad helpful links.

The site is run by John M. Hagedorn and he is solely resposible for its content. It is the repository for documents of the Chicago Gang History Project. The site also seeks to provide analysis of the role of gangs in the information age, the wars on drugs and terror, the salience of race in understanding gangs, and the nature of post-industrial violence. It is incorporated as a non profit organization by the State of Illinois and its 501 c 3 application is pending before the US Internal Revenue Service.

Some of the pages on the site are stored on servers at the University of Illinois-Chicago. gangresearch.net recieves no other support from UIC, nor from any other organization or institution.
