The CVL began to gain popularity around the country and won the support of prominent figures. Sammy Davis, Jr. funded several CVL programs and loaned his limosine and his driver, Fenis Henderson. to the CVL when he was in town. On the right Sammy Davis, Jr. is pictured with Warren Gilmore, the President of the CVL organized Youth Organizations United or YOU. The famous Staple Singers posed here for CVL photographers.

YOU was a coalition of youth organizations around the United States. In New York, Chino, and his Real Great Society was a charter member of YOU and the CVL visited New York. YOU was not a "youth mafia," said Warren Gilmore, CVL member and YOU President, but "an alternative to revolution."

In this artistic shot, Goat looks out over the city. Other groups were Thugs United in New Orleans, and the Brown Berets and Sons of Watts in Los Angeles. The CVL organized a national conference in 1968 in East St.Louis.

The CVL also visited the Berkeley campus and things looked familiar. UC-Berkeley was in the midst of riots over "People's Park" and the CVL ran into an occupied city.
